A Message from the President
Indeed, as we enter the final quarter of 2009, Vitalea Science has reached and pushed beyond many milestones that may have seemed distant and practically unreachable when the company was founded. Paramount of course among them was the arrival, installation, and, implementation of the world's most advanced Accelerator Technology, the BioMICADASTM. What was once best described as a "massive beast" has now been refined into a fully GLP compliant laboratory instrument that has all the best attributes of a Swiss Watch: accuracy, precision, robustness, and reliability. This milestone was the product of a multi-year collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. And though it was years in development, it was worth the wait because we now have the world's most dynamic pharmaceutical accelerator, and can extend its peerless efficiencies in operation and throughput to our pharmaceutical sponsors. Of equal importance was finalization of an Industry standard GLP quality system, training of study directors, validation of all peripheral lab equipment such as ultrafast and efficient UPLC instruments, and establishment of a higher 14C laboratory for traditional ADME studies. As we move forward at Vitalea, we hope to be known as the metabolism company that leverages microdoses and microtracers to solve human metabolism problems. We have substantially completed our mission towards that distinction. With coming years will continue to augment our service capabilities into complementary areas of bioanalysis to provide complete, technology-driven solutions using a variety of platforms. At the heart, though, we will remain dedicated to early human metabolism solutions as this is the key to more effective drug development. Vitalea Science's founders have always recognized that no instrument can be no better than the scientist running the experiment and in early in 2008 we began expanding our scientific team with exceptional people. In doing so, the dividends included an increased depth and expanse of the expertise, making for a truly peerless group of scientists. I am confident that any client of Vitalea Science will be in the best of hands at all times with this team. Confidence is key when critical decision are being made and we understand that at Vitalea. Naturally, a robust pipeline of demand for services from the industry will be needed for our success to continue. It's our good fortune that our expert bioanalysis with the most advanced UPLC (Waters) and AMS tools has catapulted Vitalea to the forefront of Microdosing and Microtracing ADME solutions for clinical development. We are called upon to deliver timely and industry-standard solutions to problems that were not previously achievable in practice. Excellent examples of solutions that we can provide include the application of steady-state tracer dosing to assess metabolite accumulation, or interspecies quantitative profiling to assess the relevancy of toxicology species. We see substantial growth in these areas of early development. Indeed, early information on metabolism is more urgently required now than ever in the wake of MIST guidance. Vitalea is well-poised to serve this industry need. In conclusion, Vitalea Science has a unique and powerful offering and we want to be your "go-to" metabolism company. To best serve industry needs, we will continue to focus on the development and application of new tools and technology-based solutions for our sponsors that emphasize speed and cost efficiencies without sacrificing quality. I am filled with a sense of pride and excitement for being able to participate in a dynamic and growing enterprise and for being able to participate in the development of novel pharmaceuticals in a meaningful and revolutionary way. I would like to thank my team for their dedication and our many sponsors for choosing Vitalea as their metabolism company. The years 2008 and 2009 have gone very well and we will work tirelessly to make 2010 better for our organization and those of our continuing and future clients.
